Wrapped Again
Richard is at it again.
Back last fall, Richard Herod III took the notice from his townhome association in Woodbury, Minnesota to remove his anti-Marriage Amendment yard sign in front of his unit. As a way to circumvent the townhome association, Herod applied some decaling knowledge to create a vehicle wrap with the same message as the campaign. After he posted a photo of his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X on Facebook, 300 vehicles across Minnesota soon followed. Their visibility helped to defeat the Marriage Amendment in Minnesota last November.
This winter, the Minnesota Legislature introduced a bill to change the language of the law defining marriage to be more inclusive. The campaign, Minnesotans for All Families, along with state and national LGBT advocacy organizations got on board to lobby for the passage of the bill through both houses. Governor Mark Dayton has been asking for the law to change to allow same-gender marriages in the state. It appears that he may have just enough support as the DFL (the Democratic Party in Minnesota) controls both houses.
Interestingly enough, the Republican caucus responded with a bill to legalize Civil Unions as a marriage alternative. This complicates things somewhat, as it appears that the state wants to recognize same-gender couples, but to what extent. There are still people in Minnesota that would rather not see any recognition of legal couple status for lesbian and gay citizens.
Since the lobbying efforts are heightening, Herod decided to go back to wrapping vehicles with a new message. This time, in support for the Marriage Equality bills.
Here are a few images of some of the vehicles with the new wrap.
