This is not your “typical” #VOTY. And, it shouldn’t be.

Every year yields a different kind of #VOTY story. We had some electoral battles and some downright landslide wins. We had vehicles you did not predict that would get this award.

And, here we are.

While Victory & Reseda’s content has a slight enthusiast’s edge, consumers actually read – and viewed videos on YouTube and TikTok – to get ideas. They also engage with us their thoughts – positive and negative. We actually welcome this. In fact, we hope you voted for this year’s #VOTY2022.

Your vote counted. Now, we have a winner.

The 2022 Victory & Reseda Vehicle of The Year award winner – #VOTY2022 is…

The Ford F-150 Lightning

There is nothing “typical” about this specific award. It is the first battery-electric vehicle to win. It is also the first pickup truck to earn this award. Moreover, this is Ford’s first #VOTY in the award’s 16-year history.

Given all of these “firsts,” it was eventual that the best-selling vehicle in North America for the past 40-plus years would finally take the #VOTY. It has been a finalist in the past, but something had to put it over the top.

It was innovation. The battery-electric propulsion system was coupled with retaining the F-150’s construction and limited deviation from its internal combustion siblings. The Lightning offered solutions that are both practical and game changing in its segment. Among the legacy manufacturers, it was first to market with such a vehicle. While customers were waiting for certain start-up vehicles to get produced, the F-150 Lightning arrived just in time.

As a bonus, we have an announcement video. Please watch:

With that said, Victory & Reseda wants to congratulate the Ford Motor Company on its #VOTY win. We look forward to handing off the award to you in the near future! Perhaps, the 2023 Chicago Auto Show?
