#VOTY2022 – A Voters Guide

Yesterday, we gave you the five finalists for #VOTY2022. We know you have questions about this group of vehicles you will be voting on tomorrow.

We have your answers here…

SINCE THE FORD F-150 LIGHTNING IS UP FOR #VOTY2022, WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE F-150 LINEUP? Yes, we get it…Ford produces the best-selling vehicle in the USA for over 40 years. Yes, Randy even preferred the Raptor over the Lightning…or, at least that’s what we heard him say on that video. However, you can still vote for the Lightning if you like to see Ford take their first #VOTY home to Dearborn, if you love the rest of the F-150 lineup. However, Ford is pushing electrification hard through a new sales strategy. This nod reflects that strategy.

SO, ALL THREE OF HYUNDAI MOTOR GROUP’S E-GMP PLATFORM-MATES ARE UP FOR #VOTY2022? That’s what the compilation of scores showed us. The Genesis GV60, Hyundai IONIQ 5, and Kia EV6 all did very well in scoring, social media, and panel feedback. Granted, all three have different personalities and product approaches off of the same platform. That is why choosing your favorite among these three will be difficult.

WOW, THE JEEP IS THE ODD ONE OUT? A Moparian will tell you, “how dare you say that!” We weren’t surprised that Stellantis would give our long list of nominees a run for their money. With the new plant in Detroit online, Jeep is delivering on new long-awaited vehicles that supplant their volume-selling mid-size SUVs. This nod includes the 4xe plug-in hybrid two-row models and the new three-row L models. We reviewed the L a year ago. Your vote for Jeep encompasses the entire new generation lineup of Grand Cherokees.

THIS HAS BECOME AN ALL ELECTRIC – OR, “ELECTRIFIED” – #VOTY. WHAT GIVES? Welcome to the new world of the automobile! All five nominees offer some form of electrification – from plug-in hybrids to full battery electric propulsion. If you include the PowerBoost F-150 in the mix, then you also get a parallel hybrid driveline, too. If it weren’t for the proliferation of a certain start-up EV manufacturer and their ownership base, this #VOTY would be much different. For this industry – in particular, the legacy manufacturers – it is now “all in or else.”

SO, WHAT’S NEXT? Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 16), will get to #Vote4VOTY. The ballot will go live on this site and on social media. You have until 11:59 PM Pacific Time to vote for your choice of these five vehicles. We will announce the #VOTY2022 on Sunday.

There you have it! Now, it’s your turn! #Vote4VOTY tomorrow!
