Now that I took a summer drive to the Midwest Automotive Media Association Summer Drive in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, let’s talk about what I drove at the Summer Drive.
at a car meet. Signs of life, but it’s not exactly the same as being at the Midwest Automotive Media Association Spring or Fall Rally.
When families are prompted to gather around, they're on the road involved in an epic drive to their destination. Or, they're sitting down for a story or two. Stories that need to be retold, even when loved ones are no longer around due to the pall of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The first twenty years in this business (the last ten as V&R) has seen some astounding revolutions and evolutions. The automobile is a work of art that has gone through so much that it is still recognizable as a self-propelled vehicle.

In the case of Victory & Reseda, it is already set in stone back in 2011 that it will be the portal for my automotive writing and my coverage of all things sustainable transportation. Yet, there was another internal debate that I had to settle about the new brand for this website.
The mythology of Reseda is not just rooted in the fact that I grew up there and spent most of my life in this San Fernando Valley suburb. It is grounded in reality in more than a few ways. Reseda used to house several auto dealers: Dodge, Chrysler-Plymouth, Honda, Volkswagen, American Motors, Jeep, Renault, Ford, Chevrolet and Buick. Further up Reseda Boulevard was a Cadillac one. It was through these dealers that I learned about the industry I have been covering professionally over the past ten years.
Getting to these milestones involved a lot of success, balanced out by frustrations. Every inch I took, I had to take a step back to understand how to succeed in this competitive arena.
