Twin Cities 2013: A Little Preview

Again, V&R has returned home for another Twin Cities Auto Show.
The efforts from both Detroit and Chicago are now about to pay off on the floor of the Minneapolis Convention Center. This Saturday kicks off the 40th annual edition of the Twin Cities Auto Show. It continues to be one of the biggest draws to downtown Minneapolis at the tail end of winter.
Produced by the Greater Metropolitan Automobile Dealers Association of Minnesota, the show promises to bring every brand sold in the state inside the exhibition space and a few other halls adjacent to it. The main hall will have more than just the major brands on display, as new and expanded features will join in the show. You can see the most luxurious vehicles sold in the state inside the Luxury Lane, while the most sustainable options in transportation are shown inside the Biodiesel Green Room.
If you are looking for any of the stars from the prior auto shows to show up, the only one known to be at the Convention Center is the Toyota Corolla Furia Concept. From all indicators, what you will see is essentially the next generation Corolla. If you are interested in seeing what the most popular car in the world will look like in the months to come – this is your best chance to get what is forthcoming. It marks the first time an actual concept car will be at the Twin Cities Auto Show in quite some time.
As of going to press, no other "stars" from previous shows have been announced to be at the Twin Cities Auto Show.
Also inside the main hall will be the first indoor Camp Jeep ever put on at this show. Jeep uses this indoor test track to show off the capabilities of its best four-wheel drive vehicles – the Wrangler Rubicon and the Grand Cherokee. With a driver guide, you get to experience how axles and suspensions work on side angles and uneven surfaces. The track climaxes with a high hill ascent and descent. Think of it as a rollercoaster – with Jeeps going slowly to take it all in.
The auto show promises all sorts of musical and family friendly entertainment at the Star Tribune Entertainment stage in the corner of the main hall. There will be classic cars in display, thanks to the Minnesota Hot Rod Association. Not to mention seeing almost every vehicle sold p or, going to be sold – in this region.
This year, the Ride and Drive experience will feature Scion’s lineup. Before you consider taking the FR-S out for a spin around the Convention Center, better check the weather first. Otherwise, Scion should bring the iQ, tC, xB and xD along for the ride.
Where does Victory & Reseda come in? First off, this blog/website/publication/whatever-you-want-to-call-it is proud to call the Twin Cities home. Over the past year, the site has grown beyond its wildest dreams. Having my work appear in another Twin Cities-based publication, Lavender Magazine, also helps in sharing the wealth with this site.
To celebrate, V&R is ready to roll the auto show's first day! We are having a Tweet/Meet-Up on Saturday (March 9) at 1:00PM at the Mitsubishi stand in the main hall. We may have a special surprise in store…you just have to come to join in the fun!
You can also get to meet me at the show. I will be practically all over the place that day. To be a part of it, log onto Facebook and RSVP yourself for Saturday. I will also be at the show on Monday evening after our media event. If you go, V&R will message you as to contact info once you get to the show – in case you miss the Tweet/Meet-Up. I will be on the show floor until 5-6:00PM on Saturday and from 4-7:00PM on Monday, March 11.
Our local show will throw open the doors come Saturday morning. It will run through the following weekend. Come anytime – especially when the show floors are open. V&R will see you on Saturday March 9th and Monday March 11th!
