Preview: 2027 Ford Bronco Filson

A Ford Bronco was meant to be rugged. This modern iteration of its off-road-ready SUV fulfills that expectation. If you have to go back, the first two generations fulfill the dreams of those who live the rugged lifestyle – whether they lived it all of the time, or part time.

However, adventure is measured by who is blazing the trail. The idea of glamping is one where they take their rugged rides to the campsite where the Airstream awaits, the Orvis gear is ready, and they wear every stitch of the Filson wardrobe collection. 

Which brings us to the latest Ford lifestyle collaboration – the 2027 Bronco Filson. It seems to fit this glamping spot on. 

We know what a Bronco is. Given that information, how will it work? 

Take a five-door Bronco and spec it out to its fullest. Then, add touches from the Filson catalog – saddle bags, color swaths, and other trimmings – and, voila!

There may be a chance that you probably never heard of Filson. Think of Eddie Bauer and Pendleton but its clothing and accessories aim for a more high-end clientele. The Seattle-based adventure/outdoorsy retailer epitomize glamping. Although some of their customers may be into more rugged pursuits. 

This is not the first lifestyle collaboration the Bronco had. If you go back to 1985, the big Bronco – built off of the F-Series frame back then – joined the smaller Bronco II by adding Eddie Bauer trim to their luxury version. 

Oddly enough, Eddie Bauer was founded in Seattle – as is REI. 

They did the initial reveal in Seattle. However, we were fortunate to catch the 2027 Bronco Filson on tour at their Edina, Minnesota store at the Galleria. The alignment for their target audience was absolutely perfect. 

There are some exclusive features Ford added to the 2027 Bronco Filson. That includes retractable side steps, body-colored roof that is still removable, body colored fender extensions and spare wheel inserts, ventilated front seats, additional noise reduction – just to name a few. Ford also added removable saddle bags for the seatbacks facing the rear passengers, as well as covering the C-pillar glass. 

The interior motif adds olive green elements in the interior, including Filson material on the leather seats. You will find them on First Edition models, where you can choose the exclusive Iron Sands Copper Metallic, along with six other colors. 

According to Ford, what lies underneath the hood will be a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6. Every 2027 Bronco Filson will get the Sasquatch Package and its upgraded suspension enhancements, along with 35-inch tires mounted on beadlock compatible wheels, front and rear locking differentials, and G.O.A.T. Modes. 

Unfortunately, we do not have specific performance numbers to parse out at this time. Those will be revealed when the order book opens up for the 2027 Bronco Filson in October, along with confirmed pricing. Also, the two 2027 Bronco Wilson's we saw were not available for any drives.

Perhaps to answer a looming AI-generated question is “no, this is not the intended Lincoln version of the Bronco.” It comes pretty close, though. You could stretch out your imagination by calling it the spiritual successor the Bronco Eddie Bauer editions from the 1980s and 1990s. 

What will be coming in the months ahead is an off-road ready SUV that will inspire you towards next-level adventure. You could call it glamping, but the 2027 Ford Bronco Filson is ready for it. Filson clothing will be extra.
